Gujrat Consumer Protection Council Meeting Focuses on Rights, Awareness, and Timely Justice

On the directions of Secretary Price Control and Commodities Department Punjab Kiran Khurshid and Deputy Commissioner Gujarat Noorul Ain Qureshi, the monthly meeting of the Consumer Protection Council was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner General Saba Sahar. The meeting reviewed in detail the protection of consumer rights, pending applications, and awareness campaigns. The meeting was informed that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has established a District Consumer Court in every district and District Sessions Judges and Additional District Judges have been delegated powers in this regard, so that citizens can get their complaints redressed in a timely manner. Consumer Councils have been established in 17 more districts of Punjab and they have done their work. District Consumer Protection Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Farooq, while giving a briefing, said that consumer applications are being received regularly in all tehsils of Gujrat district. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Agriculture Athar Latif, President of Consumers Association Munawar Khokhar, and other representatives and officers. It was decided in the meeting that the awareness campaign regarding consumer rights will be made more effective and maximum public access will be ensured through various means including social media.
