Fire at London Substation Causes Major Power Outage
A fire at the North Hyde substation in West London on Thursday night damaged equipment, leading to widespread power outages. Emergency crews contained the blaze, evacuating 29 people without injuries.
The incident disrupted Heathrow Airport, forcing a full-day closure and the cancellation of over 1,300 flights. Train services and parts of the M4 motorway were also affected.
Power has been restored to most customers, but thousands remain without electricity. Authorities are investigating the cause, with counterterrorism officials involved as a precaution.
