FDA to Remove Synthetic Food Dyes Over Health Concerns
The U.S. FDA, led by Commissioner Marty Makary, announced plans to phase out petroleum-based synthetic food dyes due to concerns about their link to health issues like ADHD, obesity, and diabetes.
The agency will revoke authorization for two dyes and work to eliminate six others by 2026.
New natural color additives will be approved to replace them.
This move follows growing concerns over the safety of food additives.
