Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party protest against Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Quetta

Quetta (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai): The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) staged protest demonstrations and public meetings in several districts of Balochistan to condemn the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing the move as illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic.

The central protest was held in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. Party workers and supporters took part in a rally that passed through various roads of the city before turning into a public gathering.

The gathering was addressed by Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai, PkMAP Deputy Chairman Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, Kabir Afghan and other provincial and central party leaders.

PkMAP Leaders Condemn Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Addressing the participants, the speakers strongly condemned the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it an unconstitutional and undemocratic step. They expressed concern over what they described as the removal of a democratically elected provincial government.

The leaders said that, among Pakistan’s three provinces referred to in their remarks, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a democratic government that was removed overnight. They argued that such actions undermine democratic institutions, constitutional principles and the public mandate.

The speakers called for the immediate release of former prime minister Imran Khan. They also demanded steps to end Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and restore the democratic process in the province.

The party leaders urged the authorities to respect constitutional requirements and democratic norms while addressing political differences. They maintained that political disputes should be resolved through democratic means rather than measures they consider contrary to the public mandate.

Protests Held in Several Districts of Balochistan

In addition to the central demonstration in Quetta, protests and public gatherings were organised in Chaman, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah and other districts of Balochistan under the auspices of PkMAP.

The demonstrations reflected the party’s opposition to Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its demands for Imran Khan’s release and the restoration of democratic governance.

The protests were part of the party’s broader political response to developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The speakers reiterated their commitment to constitutional governance and democratic rights, urging the relevant authorities to address their concerns.

The party’s demands included ending Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring the release of Imran Khan and upholding democratic principles across the country.
