A review meeting on the weekly performance of Special Price Magistrates across the district was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq.

Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq chaired a weekly performance review meeting of Special Price Magistrates across the district and took a detailed review of the price control of essential commodities, implementation of government price lists, fines and steps taken in the field. He clarified that providing relief to the people is the top priority of the Punjab government and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Special Price Magistrates to ensure daily visits to the markets, display the price lists at prominent places and continue indiscriminate action against illegal profiteering and hoarding. It was informed in the meeting that 12,600 inspections were conducted across the district during the last week, during which a fine of Rs. 88,500 was imposed on the elements involved in illegal profiteering, 9 shops were sealed and 37 people were arrested. Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Samiullah Farooq said that the district administration is utilizing all resources to ensure the availability of essential commodities to the people at the fixed prices and regular monitoring of the performance of field officers will continue in this regard. He also directed all the Price Magistrates to keep a special focus on the prices of other essential commodities including flour, vegetables and meat.
