Faislabad :The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), in collaboration with the National Hostels Association of Pakistan (NHAP) and the Regional Police Office (RPO) Faisalabad, organized a seminar titled “Drug-Free Environment in Hostels” on Thursday. The seminar was held under the leadership and vision of Vice Chancellor UAF, Professor Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, focusing on ensuring safe, disciplined, and healthy residential environments for students.The seminar highlighted effective strategies to ensure student safety and eradicate drug use in public-sector university hostels as well as private hostels for male and female students and working women. Emphasis was laid on the use of biometric systems, strict monitoring mechanisms, and coordinated institutional efforts to maintain discipline and security in hostels.Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq, Principal Officer (Hostels) / Chief Hall Warden (CHW), UAF, presented a comprehensive overview of the university’s hostel system. He informed that around 9,000 students are currently residing in UAF hostels, which are efficiently managed through a structured administrative framework comprising Associate Hall Wardens, Deputy Hall Wardens, Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents and Hostel Munshies.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq stated that UAF hostels provide adequate facilities to students while strictly enforcing university rules. He added that a transparent and effective disciplinary mechanism is in place to address any violations, ensuring a secure and drug-free environment for residents.The Chief Hall Warden warmly welcomed RPO Faisalabad, Mr. Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, who addressed the seminar and briefed participants on the ongoing efforts of Faisalabad Police to control, manage, and eradicate drug abuse in the city, particularly among youth. He also responded to participants’ questions and appreciated the proactive role of educational institutions like UAF in promoting a drug-free society.At the conclusion of the seminar, certificates were distributed among participants, and a commemorative shield was presented to the RPO Faisalabad by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq in recognition of his services and collaboration.
