In July 2023, more than 100 current and former McDonald’s employees in the UK alleged facing a toxic workplace environment, including sexual misconduct, harassment, racism, and bullying. The BBC investigation revealed that some of the affected employees were under the age of 17 and were regularly subjected to harassment.
In response to these allegations, McDonald’s issued a heartfelt apology and launched an internal investigation. The UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) also expressed concern over the findings and announced plans to introduce a new email hotline for reporting workplace harassment.
