Pakistan’s poultry industry is currently facing a serious crisis. The unavailability of chicks and uncontrollable price hikes have worsened the situation.

Chicks in Short Supply and Expensive: Farms in Distress In Punjab, the price of chicks has reached its highest level in history. However, despite paying high prices, chicks are still unavailable. This situation has arisen due to the monopoly of private companies, and if chick supply is not restored soon, the new batch of chickens could also be affected.

Chicken Meat Out of Reach for Public In Lahore, the price of chicken meat has set a new record. Despite the official price being 595 PKR, it is being sold for 700 PKR per kilogram in the market. This has further increased the hardships for the public, with no effective solution in sight.

Feed Committee’s Harsh Decision: Farmers’ Demands Rejected Farmers had demanded a reduction in feed prices following a decrease in soybean prices, but the Feed Committee decided to maintain the previous prices. Soybean, a key ingredient in poultry feed, has dropped from 230 PKR to 180 PKR per kilogram, but feed costs remain unchanged.
