Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has demanded the immediate release of the verdict in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case, accusing authorities of delaying it to exert pressure on him. He compared this case to previous ones, claiming that just like the Adalat and Cypher cases, it would end in failure for the government.

Imran Khan, speaking from Adiala Jail, criticized the current state of democracy in Pakistan, drawing parallels with past military dictatorships, particularly the regimes of Yahya Khan and Zia ul-Haq. He claimed that, under the guise of democracy, the same authoritarian tactics are being used today, including censorship of the media and suppression of the judiciary.

The former Prime Minister denounced the government’s alleged efforts to weaken PTI and emphasized that the Al-Qadir Trust case was baseless, asserting that it was simply a philanthropic initiative aimed at improving the future of children in rural areas. He reiterated that he would not seek an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) like his political rivals Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari.

He also criticized the government for its failure to address the ongoing Islamabad massacre investigation and the worsening economic situation in Pakistan, emphasizing that real progress comes from investment, which cannot thrive in a country where the rule of law is eroded, and where genuine representatives are in jail.

The decision on the £190 million case was once again postponed, with a new ruling date set for January 13. The case centers around allegations that Imran Khan and his wife received illegal funds and property from Bahria Town in exchange for facilitating a settlement involving 140 million pounds returned to Pakistan.
